Blah #743... or something.

Blah blah blah Boardwalk Amusements at Daytona Beach!
So after a short drive from Orlando to Daytona Beach we arrived at.........

Boardwalk Amusements!!
Haven't been on a ride here in a few years.....
Oh hey, whats that behind the Ferris Wheel?
(ha, the wheel being the only thing I've done here before...)
Yaayyy!! SandBlaster!
Florida's newest coaster, now open!
Its super fun for its size.. and lack of any lapbar adds to the thrill.
Also the fact this little ride has some pretty good airtime!
SandBlaster is a Pinfari Z64 Zyklon, one of five currently operating.
(I've been on three of them :D)
helix-of-doom... or something, I don't know.
First drop POV, woo.
SandBlaster is currently the only seaside/beach front coaster in the whole state of Florida... but I hope that changes once Starliner reopens, again, again.
....you can kinda see the beach at the top-left of this photo. But its also along the whole side of the ride.
Yaaayyyyyyyyyy! SandBlaster in 2013 at Daytona's Boardwalk Amusements
and, uh, me...
but hey look!
A photo of me with the same ride, in 2009, back when it was called "Blue Diamond Streak" at the now closed Blue Diamond Park in New Castle, Delaware.
(It had already closed permanently at the time of this photo)

Woo, SandBlaster is likely the last "new for me" coaster I'll ride this year, the 743rd coaster I've ridden.
(Can I stop now?)

Also, maybe later this week, or next... I'll post something from my bigger trips this summer, and a state park update is on the way too! :3

Also, Jeff ripped off like, all of his big-toe's toenail and it was super gross and bloody and he wanted me to use a photo of it in the post, but it was gross, so I didn't post it. (you can thank me for that)

Ponce de Leon Inlet Light and stuff

Uh, yeah, blog post #2 about a Lighthouse? lets go! Ponce de Leon Inlet Light and stuff.... The Inlet Light is the tallest lighthouse in Florida and a National Historic Landmark, so we drove out to Daytona and climbed to the top, woo.

THRILLING! Here I am... at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse MUSEUM!
And if you didn't know... Its in the US, in Florida, and a Lighthouse
(I wouldn't have known had it not been for the three flags)
in 1998 it became a National Historic Landmark.
One of only ten lighthouses to earn this designation.
And before we climb......
T3h LAW
Also.....this was slightly unsettling in a oh by the way kinda way....
Lets get climbing!
Damn... 175 feet to go!
Yeah....
And once at the top....
You find out that over 125 years ago an earthquake hit...
175 feet above the Inlet... here's...... the ocean?
And Daytona Beach to the north.
Annddd the view looking down over the handrail :D
and part of the museum grounds and the gift shop
I CAN SEE MY CAR FROM HERE!!!
And for all you lighthouse nerds....
THE LENS!
a 1904 Barbier Benard et Turenne rotating third order Fresnel lens
((whatever that means))
Well, duh....

Yay Lighthouse #2 Adventure!!!!
I'll have a few more ride related updates soon... Like... tomorrow.. woo
