Indy 500, minutes

So between our morning at the Indianapolis Zoo and evening at the Marion County Fair... Rob and I had some time to waste exploring in and around Downtown Indianapolis and while it was hot AF out, we still got a nice walk in around city center. From the zoo and gardens we walked through White River State Park, past the Capitol, and along the canal before making our way back to zoo to head over to the Fair. Indianapolis is the capital city of Indiana and the 15th most populous city in the US (second in the Midwest, only to Chicago)
Woo
Downtown Indianapolis from White River State Park
Random street art... Its a tire swing! But...
you couldn't swing on it? :(
A neat waterfall installation that feeds into the White River
Random windmill
We walked past the Indiana State Museum
Next door is the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art with this neat 'Running Deer fountain' in front of it
We ended up walking past a Rocket Fizz Soda shop. Rob had never been so we went in.
The setup was much like the location in Florida I'd been to a few years ago.
While I don't care for soda... I had to get myself some Corn Soda, again...
And I couldn't leave without getting HIPPO Soda!
Also, also, we stopped at some random Pizza Shop
Giorgio's Pizza on Market Street
Pizza = Good 🍕
The Indiana State Soldiers and Sailors Monument, built in 1888.
This is located in the geographical center of Indianapolis!
It also featured really neat lights
(as well as fountains and sculptures and....stuff)
Standing 284 feet tall, it has an observation deck within... Although we didn't know at the time!
(Damn, I would have gone up it for sure!)
((Although checking with Rob about this, we've come to the conclusion it was closed at the time of our visit.. They seemed to be setting up some sort of event in the circle at the time of our visit))
Obviously I had to make a stop here...
The Indiana State House!
(I'd been to/through Indianapolis a handful of times, but never had the chance to stop here so this needed to happen, haha)
Built in 1888, it's the fifth building to house the state government in Indiana.
'Murrica
 George Washington
The State Seal of Indiana.
"A forest and a woodman felling a tree, a buffalo leaving the forest and fleeing through the plain to a distant forest, and sun in the west with the word Indiana."
The Historical National Road once ran right through the State House.
Woo!
Uh, this is my 13th State House visited
(but I've been to 29 Capital Cities)
Robert D. Orr Plaza and the Government Center North and Government Center South buildings.
The Indiana Central Canal
I had no idea Indianapolis had a river walk / canal system!
It was kinda pretty and you could rent boats or kayaks to tour the canal area
Also, also! There were ducks! <3
🦆🦆🦆
And even.... Duck Ramps!
Paddle boat in the canal. Had it not been so hot, I'd have liked to have tried the kayak.
Random sculpture in White River State Park
Uh, yup, Indianapolis.

His name, is Clyde

Not to be out-done by the Bicentennial Giant Chair a few miles away in Gardner.... Winchendon, Massachusetts is home to Clyde, the Toy Town Horse.
Don't ask me, I don't get it either.
🎠
Built in 1912, moved and rebuilt in 1962, and once again rebuilt in 1988 (this, current horse) 🎠
Its based off the Converse Toy Company '#12 rocking horse' but built 4 times larger 🎠
the plaque at the base of the horse. 🎠
Uh... the 12 foot horse... that weighs 3,000 pounds. 🎠
Clyde
Yup... Once again... 🎠
Here it is, here I am.

Oh, Massachusetts?
