Woo, Six Flags White Water!

Well, uh, with an extra day to waste in Atlanta before making the quick drive back to Orlando... Deka and I visited Six Flags White Water in Marietta, GA. I hadn't visited the park since 2004 (uh, 11 years?...How did that happen!?) Honestly, the park really hasn't changed much in the past decade. They had added a Behemoth Bowl and modified their speed slide to include a drop box start. That's all that really stood out to me but that's ok, White Water is still a really great water park and one of the more pretty ones as far as water parks go. The place opened in the mid 80's and was built by Herschend, the Dollywood and Silver Dollar City parent company and the older areas in the park really show it. The park was pretty busy, I guess most of Metro Atlanta was getting in one last beach day before the local schools went back in session. While it kinda made things less fun for us, we made the best of it. (and just skipped most of the things we'd been on before) and since we didn't really care if we rode everything, we just kinda relaxed and did a few laps in the lazy river and also hung around the wave pool.
Woo, Six Flags White Water!
Map of the park, its pretty big as far as water parks go.
The Atlanta Ocean Wave Pool, featuring a live DJ Dance Party during the day and Dive-In Movies on some nights.
(Let it be known, this was the first place both of us had ever heard.....
Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae))
The parks Lazy River, the Little Hooch River.
It has this little spur that features a waterfall cove, I seemed to remember it being a little more cave like the first time.. but it may have been changed since 04.
There was clearly modifications visible to the river elsewhere in the park.
Little Hooch used to have a 'longer' path option that has now been walled off and drained although visible by the Tree House.
Tree House Island, the newer/larger splash fort at White Water.
The ProSlide Tornado, this was the newest slide in the park the first time we visited together.
We had ridden it 2 or 3 times that visit...
But yeah... With that being the line, just to get a tube... we skipped it! No way were we gonna wait over an hour for it... NOPE!
New for this year, the park modified Cliffhanger, their old speed slide into Dive Bomber with the addition of a Drop Box start.
The line was also pretty massive and since I have 4 local slides with drop starts... and I had ridden the original Cliffhanger... we passed on it.
Run-A-Way River is the parks second, and newer family raft slide... but again, we had ridden it in the past and didn't really care to wait in line for it.
Captain Kid’s Cove, the smallest of the three splash fort / kid areas in the park.
Woo, 100-Meter Splash!
(Love me some mat-racers)
Also, at some point in the past 10 years it got painted blue (from white)
The Bahama Bob Slide is the parks other family raft slide.
And since I remembered it being the better of the two, we waited out the nearly hour line for a ride on it.
I'd like to say it was worth it but its hard for me to do so. Waiting in extra long lines for slides is just so unrewarding to me. That being said, the slide itself is one of the better family raft ones out there.
Caribbean Plunge, the double dip slide in the middle here, was my favorite slide here back in 04. I remember running around with Deka and doing it upwards of 10 times my last visit. Now it seems you can no longer ride it with double tubes, but we still did it solo, I haaddd to ride it backwards <3
But we did ride the Bermuda Triangle slide next to it on a double tube. I would have gone a second time had the line been slightly shorter but it was one of the more manageable today.
Being an older park, a lot of the older slides are buried semi deep into the woods. Its kinda neat being in the forest going down the slides, its not something you really see at water parks now.
Deka was nervous about trying out Gulf Coast Screamer tube slide due to the drop off at the end and fears of flipping over... I told her she wouldn't flip as long as she didn't try to overcompensate for the drop... and she remained upright.
Walking around one of the activity pools it seemed like there was once a pretty large drop off slide no longer in use, maybe 20 feet to the right was a less severe drop off slide named Mutiny Chute. Deka wanted nothing to do with it but I quickly made the drop.
The last thing we did before making our exit was the parks second newest slide, Typhoon Twister, added in 2013. This was only my second time riding the ProSlide Behemoth Bowl and Deka's first. We ended up waiting about an hour for it.... and while fun, again, it kinda leaves a bad taste in your mouth. (For what its worth, the larger one at Blue Bayou was much better)
So many trees <3
An almost rarity when it comes to water parks.
The little shopping and dining village in the back of the park is where a lot of the Herschend influences show
But way to go, Six Flags, for being able to not screw it all up... even after 16 years of ownership.

After heading out of the park we drove down past the Big Chicken ( :D <3 ) and grabbed some lunch/dindin at Del Taco before I headed back to Orlando, just over a six hour drive, although I hit thunder storms and traffic making it take nearly seven.

Woo, White Water! Hopefully I can make it back here sometime sooner than 11 years... and on a less busy day (or maybe I'll just give in and buy a Q-Bot.....)
